Circumventing jail...
Reaching lost souls...
Reconnecting families...
Providing careers...
Offering opportunity.
Imagine a place where minority boys and girls who are destined to
become lifelong participants in our judicial system, can circumvent that process, learn to live a
new life and finally realize their deepest dreams and greatest personal
potential.
It is a place where professionals and educators who care can truly and lovingly rehabilitate
broken, hopeless, helpless and even angry youth into to productive, happy
and whole Christian citizens.
Key Benefits:
Provides life skills and Christian principles
Provides basic on-the-job training
Provides practical application and career oriented work experience.
Facility Aspects:
The Destination Christian Arts Academy and Career Center will take a holistic approach toward rehabilitation -
providing spiritual and life counseling, basic life-skills training,
parenting classes and day care, as well as our exclusive 3-tiered approach
to employment and career preparation. There are four primary aspects
to this rehabilitative approach.
Aspect #1 - EDIFICATION
Defining spirituality, personality and basic interpersonal and social skills
The DCAACC believes in the fundamental, bible-based teaching of the Word of God. We believe the teachings
and the principles in God's Holy Word can be the basis to all
change and rehabilitation. By starting with the existing
philosophies amongst so many youth today, the Center will take a
bottom-line, street-wise approach toward teaching and implementing a
new way of thinking. By targeting 9 basic principals of life
and starting at a level most teens will relate to, the Destination
Christian curriculum will then creatively introduce the students to
new and specifically scriptural definitions. This, coupled
with weekly therapeutic counseling and the daily guidance of the
instructors, will help facilitate a new perspective on social
interaction, interpersonal skills and an introspective perception of
self and self-esteem.
Aspect #2 - EDUCATION
Redefining family, dysfunction, discipline and parenting skills
Keeping in mind that many youth join gangs
because of the lack of family structure at home and the loyalty
and support received on the streets, The DCAACC intends to
redefine these institutions in the minds of the young people.
One way of doing this is through their interaction with and
parenting of their own children. The DCAACC intends to
remove the students from the familiar gang and familial structures
that keep them bound into unproductive, non-progressive and
debilitating economic and social cycles. Then, by granting
students temporary custody of their own children and mandating
parenting and early childhood development courses, the DCAACC staff
will be able to help re-shape healthy familial relationships and
friendships, as well as provide them with a loving and Christian
family structure.
Aspect #3 - EMPLOYMENT
Redefining definitions of success, responsibility, ability and
obligation
The DCAACC will offer jobs in the areas of
Administration, Construction, Hospitality, Day Care, Entertainment and
others. With the job assignment and regular pay, will come the responsibility
of a checking account, paying bills and meeting
basic household needs. Then, while each student maintains
their spiritual and life-skills education and works a steady
part-time job, the DCAACC employment structure will also provide
"on-the-job" training, practical application, and product experience
for the career of their choice in areas of the Arts, Entertainment,
Media and Business.
Aspect #4 - EMPOWERMENT
Redefining opportunity, un-tapped potential and a chance to be...
Most career path opportunities will undoubtedly
be in music, however, The DCAACC will offer once-in-a-lifetime,
fully-paid contracts and training in the areas of Dance, Design,
Filmmaking, Writing, Art and Management and more. These
contracts will expressly state that all participants in the DCAACC
academy will have to denounce all gang ties, complete all aspects of
the program and willingly adhere to all probational requirements.
With this in mind, the DCAACC will strive to provide
motivation, hope and opportunity for each child enrolled in the
Destination Christian Arts Academy and Career Center so they may
fully realize their true potential in this life and their true
purpose in Christ.
THE DESTINATION CHRISTIAN ACADEMY:
Inception of The DCAACC is currently estimated to take approximately
3 years. In the meantime, it is the immediate goal of Destination
Christian Services, Inc. to make the Destination Christian Arts Academy
and Career Center curriculum available to all willing minority teens via
an online Christian Academy. As DCS, Inc. prepares to debut
the online academy in mid-2008, a pilot satellite program is currently
being developed to work in tandem with specific Los Angles and/or San
Fernando Valley area high schools, churches and counseling centers.
For more information on the Destination Christian Academy, satellite
programs and its
up-coming fundraising event please see the link below. Also look for
announcements through various community venues that cater to minorities
in the Southern California area.
ANNOUNCING OUR NEWLY DEVELOPED SATELLITE PROGRAM:
It's Time To D.R.E.A.M.!!
The Destination Rehabilitative Entertainment, Arts & Media Christian
Workshops
A portion of the full DCAACC program is currently being modified into a
series of 3-month, all day Saturday Workshops that will culminate with a
final Variety Show Fund Raiser Gala.
The morning session of the workshop would introduce the students to 4
of the 9 life-skills topics from the Destination Academy curriculum and in
the afternoon, students would then concentrate on completing their portion
of Gala participation in the areas of dance, music, art and design.
Once all the curriculum and preparation was complete the students would
provide the better part of the entertainment for the Variety Show Fund
Raiser.
Participating in the workshop and Gala event will not only provide the
students with with new life choice options, but also career experience,
opportunities and pay for the items they create and sell and/or their
artistic performance and presentation during the event.
The first D.R.E.A.M. Christian Satellite Program is slated for Summer
2008. Keep watching for more information on how you can help a
child's dream become a reality. Details of our programs be
